To get into the heart of the action, all you have to do is step outside W Taipei - we're right there. With the hip Uni-Ustyle department store just downstairs, you'll lose no time in getting that shopping spree started - especially when all the world-class malls are connected by a suspended footbridge. Major attractions such as Taipei 101, one of the world's tallest building with an 89th floor observatory, Taipei City Hall, and Taipei World Trade Centre are merely minutes away and if you've got your sights set farther, the City Hall MRT stop is just below. Our home is the exhilarating Xinyi district, where all of the city's glitterari, jet set and fashionistas, and after dark, see the stars come out to socialize in the hottest nightlife spots in town.

Tread between history and modernity, tradition and contemporary attitudes all across the city, whether you're sipping in a traditional tea shop, buying the latest electronic gadgets, checking out beautiful temples or admiring futuristic architecture. Amid a whirl of frenetic and bustling commerce and finance, discover 8,000 years of Chinese history at the National Palace Museum and step back in time at the National Dr. Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall. Get back to nature at the Taipei Zoo, or catch some sporting action at the Taipei Dome. Pick your way through the Holiday Jade Market, one of Asia's largest for semi-precious stones, and across local neighborhoods as you visit fortune tellers and local artisans. At Jao He and Shilin, two of the city's most famous night markets, bite-sized portions and small plates make it easy to taste all of Taipei's favorite snacks.

For another take on culture, attend the Cloud Ballet or Chinese opera.
